FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions-
What is a Fat Quarter (FQ)?
It is a term used in patchwork and sewing and is a way of cutting a metre of fabric into four square shaped pieces. You cut half a metre of fabric and then cut this piece in half again.  This gives you a piece of fabric approximately 50cm by the half the width of the fabric. It is far more versatile for lots of projects.  There are lots of patterns that are specifically designed for using fat quarters and they make an ideal way to build up a collection of styles, colours and themes for projects you come across in the future without spending a fortune on material. Most fabrics are 44” or 110cm wide but some are different so the width of the fabric will be shown in the description as well as the approximate FQ size just to make things clear.

What if I buy three Fat Quarters? (or any odd amount)
If you buy 3 fat quarters, you will get a piece measuring approx 75cm (29.5”) by the width of the fabric.  The reason for this is that we always send our fabric in continuous lengths.  If you require the 3rd quarter as a fat quarter cut separately, please let us know and we will send it that way. All measurements are done by a government stamped approved ruler.

Can I check the colours of the fabrics?
All photographs of fabric are taken in natural light to give an as accurate representation as possible however all screens display colours slightly differently. If in doubt please request a swatch before placing an order.

Does your fabric come with any certification?

We do not offer any certificates with our fabrics, due to some many different pages offering different advice we recommend that you speak to your local trading standards for advice. Not all toys can be self certificated as I found out when manufacturing things myself, so I have my items tested by an independent lab so we urge you to ring your trading standards so they can advise you on this.

When and how will my delivery arrive?

We aim for all order are dispatched by the end of the next working day at the latest. However, the majority of orders made before 2pm (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays) are dispatched the very same day. We aim to have you order delivered to you within 2-5 working days.

Your item will be well wrapped and securely packaged. Currently our items are dispatched first class through paypal/Royal Mail, so please make sure your paypal address is correct as we only post to this address. For high value or large sized orders we will send signed for only or sent by courier so please beware someone will need to be in to sign for the package. As we post through paypal we are always able to obtain a certificate of postage.
If you find that the postage on your parcel does not match up with the amount you paid then please get in touch and we can put this right for you. Given the great variation in size and weight of our products it is difficult to set a singular accurate postage price and in many instances the postage charge doesn’t cover the cost however occasionally this may not be the case. If so please let us know and we will refund the difference.
We use Royal Mail First Class for the majority of the order. This is an estimated next day delivery service for items you need to get there quickly however whilst Royal mail aim to deliver 93% of 1st Class items of mail the next working day this isn’t guaranteed.
